Sami program council

It is the Sami Parliament in Norway which appoints the Program Council for NRK Sápmi. The council keeps an eye on and evaluates the Sami programming.

The Program Council has no authority to override the decisions which the Director of NRK Sápmi makes concerning program policy. However, the council has the right and obligation as representatives for listeners, viewers, and readers to advise and give their opinions on how the programming can be strengthened and improved.

The council also has the right to address all issues which in their opinion have a bearing on NRK. The Program Council’s work is established in the Broadcasting Act, § 7-3.
