The broadcasting licence fee is a statutory public fee for those who have a television receiver in use. This licence fee is not affected by local signal conditions, the channels you have access to or the programmes you choose to view.
The main rule in the Regulations relating to television receivers is that a broadcasting licence fee must be paid for each receiver.
The Norwegian Parliament has determined that the broadcasting licence fee should accrue to the NRK who serve the role as the Norwegian public broadcaster. For 2016 the fee is NOK 2,834.70, including VAT at 10%.
The fee is due twice a year with a due date 31 January for the period 1 January to 30 June, and with a due date 31 July for the period 1 July to 31 December.
