The Norwegian public service broadcaster, NRK, has been appointed by the European Broadcasting Union to serve as Host Broadcaster for the IBU World Championships Biathlon 2016.

As Host Broadcaster, NRK is responsible for producing the live international transmissions from competitions and ceremonies. In addition, the HB team will provide technical facilities and administrative support to broadcasters who have acquired the rights to broadcast the 2016 Biathlon Championships and prepare the best possible working conditions for their crews.

The Host Broadcaster Project was established more than a year ago and has worked in close cooperation with the local organiser Oslo 2016 to prepare all aspects relevant to the broadcasting operations.

Dear Broadcasters,

On behalf of our two organisations, the Local Organising Committee Oslo 2016 and NRK Host Broadcaster, we heartily welcome all of you to share and convey a unique experience from Holmenkollen and Oslo, for eleven festive days.

Since the very start of the project, the Local Organising Committee and NRK Host Broadcaster have joined forces to offer to the world a memorable World Championships in Biathlon.

By greeting you all in a joint statement, we wish to demonstrate the close relations and mutual reliance between our two organisations. We also wish to thank our respective delegating organisations, the IBU and the EBU, for the confidence and support they have shown us in the entire planning process.

Our goal is to provide you and your audience with unforgettable pictures from the spectacular sports facility of Holmenkollen, of the athletes´ efforts and of the celebrating crowds. Equally important is to ensure that you get the best possible service and working conditions during your stay here in Oslo.

We are here for you, so that the audience all over the world can take part in this great event.

It is our common goal to make this the best Biathlon World Championships ever!
