Unifying wisdom
Building on the results from the previous conferences in Aotearoa/New Zealand 2008 and Taiwan 2010, the theme of this conference will be Indigenous Journalism.
The aim for this conference will be unifying wisdom and sharing content through the perspective of Indigenous journalism.
Indigenous journalism
The indigenous media has an important role in the world.
Join us in discussing Indigenous Journalism and the value of sharing knowledge and experience to reach another level of networking.
Participate in an exciting dialogue about how we define Indigenous Journalism and how we work to develope high quality content from an indigenous perspective.
What has WITBN achieved in the last couple of years and what are the goals for the future?
Sápmi WITBC 2012 will be a valuable opportunity to discuss a broad range of topics from news sharing, program sharing, and media trends in the next years.
Three main topics
The conference is being organized around three main topics:
►News
Ideally all indigenous peoples should recieve all news in their own native language. The news service should present essential news, items that affect the Indigenous community. As broadcasters we shall provide high quality news stories in an indigenous perspective. WITBC'12 will be an opportunity for indigenous media workers to discuss around these issues.
►Program sharing
Sharing costs may enable larger productions. Through the WITBC network we can make use of each others experiences and, if possible, develop new indigenous programs.
►Technological innovations
What kind of technological innovations can we start to work with in content sharing that would make our every day work experience so much easier?
Give us your feedback
We invite your feedback on the three areas of the conference, including your suggestions for sessions that you would like to see as part of the conference program. Send us an e-mail: witbc2012@nrk.no
Conference Format - Keynote speakers, plenary and concurrent sessions, as well as panel discussions, are being planned. In addition, workshops, interactive presentations, and roundtables will provide conference participants with the opportunity to discuss the application to the WITBN network.
