In an entry that is quickly spreading on Facebook, 21 year old William from Tønsberg, Norway, is begging for help to find his father.

The message reads: «Hi, I'm from Norway and I'm trying to find my father through facebook. I'm clueless, all I know is that he is from the UK and somewhere around Leeds. My mother said he called himself Johnny. All I have is this picture taken 22 years ago. Please help me by sharing!»

His mother has told him that she was in Lanzarote 22 years ago, on a study trip. That is where she met the man who became William's father. When she came home and found out she was pregnant, she went back to Lanzarote in the hope of finding Johnny, but he had already left.

– My mom told me about him when I was little, and I have been dreaming about meeting him ever since.

Supportive mom

William and his mother Monica have tried to reach Johnny via Facebook before, by creating a profile with his firstname and his picture.

– It didn't work, so I decided to try this way. My mom supports me and shes helping me with this.

With Facebooks over 1 billion registered users, William hopes to find the father he's always wanted to meet. He has seen similar enquiries on the social website before, and feels it hits people in a certain way.

– People are very enthusiasticand curious as to whether I have found him or not, says William, who has had a rush of new friendrequests after asking for help in finding his father.

Proud to be British

Since posting his enquriy August 23, he has had a lof of messages from people all over the world, but as of yet, there is still no clue as to the wrhereabouts of his father.

– I don't know if he wants to know me, or if he is even alive, but I am hoping to get some answers. Who knows, maybe I have a big family in England.

The 21-year old man has been in England several times and he is proud of his British roots.

- Actually, I like to tell people I am from England too, if anyone asks where I am from, he says and adds that he wants to go to England to stay, and maybe study.

– It would have been even better if it turns out I have family there, says William.

He hopes English newspapers will pick up this story, and give him extra help in the search of his father.
