I went for a walk in the park by the river
The sun shining down from the blue sky
New cut grass smelt of high summer
All was well with me and the world
But you don’t want to go there when its night time
Walking around all by your self
There are thugs & villains who want your money
They’ll take what you’ve got and break your health
There’s a crowd of people down at the station
Been to the shops, coming from work
You can feel the safety in numbers
Sharing a joke with some other bloke
But you don’t want to go there when its night time
There are evil dark corners where danger lurks
Wicked intention, sharp blades and hob nails
Ready to take you on your last ride
Nice afternoon out in suburbia
Birds there are singing, the gardens well kept
Comfortable stroll to see your auntie
Nice cup of tea is what you expect
But their curtains are drawn when its night time
Though they hear a disturbance down in the street
They won’t get involved, they think of their safety
While your blood’s forming a pool at your feet
