Debutalbum - Lifting Ships - Out Today!

4. Mars 2011

Stor hilsen,

Casa Murilo

We´ve been playlisted on P3 and Other Good Things

Evening all. Our previous blog playlist proved so popular we made another one. You're welcome. Casa Murilo's Norway Indie Taster

The weather's been getting increasingly temperamental for the last few weeks but she turned nasty last night. Winter is not too far away.

Monday night we played our first gig on the big stage at Parkteatret here in our hometown of Oslo, something we talked about right at the beginning of all this Casa Murilo business. We even had our name on the big billboard outside. We were playing at a showcase for our record label, Spoon Train (link here). We played with 4 other great bands; Einar Stray, Cold Mailman, Honeytraps and Death By Unga Bunga. The gig was great fun and I think we made a good show of ourself as always.

We've applied to ByLarm 2011, a festival held here in Oslo in February, kind of a big showcase for Scandinavian bands and artists. We sent them 3 songs off the new record as part of the application. Hope we get in! If we don't then they are dead to us. Only joking! No, seriously.

The Big News is that P3, a big radio station in Norway, have playlisted our song Drunken Promises. We did the recording for a Norwegian charity record featuring a load of other famous names - Big Bang, Dumdum boys, Sivert Høyem etc etc and for some reason they've chosen our song as the lead single and it's been picked up by radio. Not too shabby!

Stay warm,

Casa Murilo

P.S. The album is coming along nicely. We're presently listening to the first mix. There's some work left but it's sounding good, I think......

Album Recording Done!

Hello all,

Firstly, go and put some good music on. If you´re down, it makes you feel better. If you feel good already then awesome. Music makes things even more awesome. Here, try this.
Under The Yellow Umbrellas 4

We have finished the recording for our debut album. We´ve been working with Sjur Lyseid (of Monzano and The Little Hands Of Asphalt superstardom) at Spoon Train´s "Six Feet Over" studio. It has been quite an experience. For starters, we didnt have enough songs when we began in May (although we kept that to ourselves for the initial meetings. As usual we backed ourselves that we could pull something out of the bag. We´ve always worked best when under pressure. It adds excitement)  and we had always planned to split the recording in half, May and August.

We started out in May with great enthusiasm and full commitment and enormous intent, perhaps even a little too much. We just wanted the record to be as good as it can possibly be. Sjur, ever the diplomat instilled in us a feeling of calm and did a great job. The gap of 2 months somehow seems to have lifted off a lot of the pressure. Writing a bunch of new songs was obviously a big factor, but It has been a more peaceful second half. We played some really good shows over the summer, tried the new material and generally had a really good time together. Its fair to say we all really like being in the band. The record itself is something I think we all feel good about at this point.

And thank you to everyone who has ever come to a show, sent us a message, bought the T Shirt (on the website, and the famous first T Shirt, only 20 in circulation so hang onto it, it will be worth a fortune) or done any of the internet stuff, especially voting. There is literally no point in doing it unless people like it. That´s the point. When we started we just wanted to keep having an awesome time like we did in Brazil. Then we moved to Oslo and we didnt have any money and it was different. So we started doing this.

Also, thanks to anyone who has a copy of the EP and has made copies for their friends. We must have given out a fair few hundered of them after gigs. For those who dont know, before the last song we like to say "Everyone can have a copy of the EP, if you dont have money thats ok, just take one. It cost us money to make so that would be cool if you could give us money, but if not, take it. If you like it then copy it, give it to your friends". We are using our own money to finance the making of this record. No big money men around this project. We have a few records to sell before we break even so we appreciate all those who have chipped in. Your money is in the record. No joke. Aaaaaand please buy the new record when its out. We will let you know, dont worry.

Mixing starts tomorrow. WOOOOOH!

Casa Murilo x
