I was born England Gwynel Brooks, in Los Angeles, California on November 21, 1956. I have been living in Bodø, Norway since April 2004, where I have found music is a big part of the heart of the city. I love to sing and appreciate the talents of others. I would like to start a Gospel Choir here in Bodø, as well as continue with a Band I started called,"BLEND".I picked the name Blend because there may be a different blend of musicians at any given at any given performance, thus reducing the limitations of talent rendered. I recently found out that there is already a band with that name here in Norway so I searched in and outside myself looking for a new name that hopefully no one had and that would perfectly describle not ony the music but the group itself. I came up with the name, ChangEng. I started singing at at a very young age. I was 4 years old when my Mom had me singing in the United Nations Children's Choir in Long Beach, California. I received the nick name, "Lala" when I was seven years old because I was always humming or singing, so I was told. I believe that Love, Forgivness and Music are the Keys to a good life.

It's Official - I'm 50!!!

Who said life begins at 40? I am here to declare that life begins the day you pop out of the oven and get a taste of what living and growing older with each passing moment has to offer. Smelling the aroma of age ever knocking at the door of life that has your name on it....ok...OK, I got a little carried away but I am just happy to have made it to the age "50" and hope for many more healthy years ahead.
The Surprise Party that I gave myself was really cool. My husband started the evening with a welcome in Norsk and in English and then played the piano and sang a song to me. It was so sweet. Several of my girlfriends had met a couple of times without me knowing and they put together a show that had everyone crackin up. Me, I hate surprises that are for me because I am too emotional and thank God, Wenche gave me a box of kleenex before they started their tribute. I cried and laughed and cried and felt loved and it was great. Emails from the states were read out loud and the tears really came flooding from my eyes as well as shouts of laughter. I had a surprise for my friends and family as well. I was able to get a celebrity, one of Norway's own to come and perform, as he was in on the surprise and it was just awesome. He name is Terje Nilsen and he is truly one of a kind. He sang about four songs and delighted the guests. "Tin Man",(a nick name I gave to him) and I even sang a duet, "Baby it's Cold Outside" and we sang the english version of it, with a few lines sung by him in Norsk. It is said that he does not sing in english so I was more than grateful, I was honored and heck, I am 50!!! After the chit-chat, cake and coffee and entertainment, some of us headed to the G night club and drink Lemon Drops,(my fav) and shots of Tequila and danced and had a ball.
It is all over now and I probably left out some things but you may need a break from reading my madness so check back again if it pleases you and I hope to add what I left out.
