A total of 6 OB vans will be used in the international production of Ski Jumping, Cross-Country and medal awards ceremonies.
Holmenkollen Cross-Country arena
The international signal from the Cross-Country venue in Holmenkollen will be produced, depending on competition, with up to 50 cameras.
The signal will be provided by a total of 3 OB vans. 2 OB vans will be located in the broadcast compound in the tunnel under the arena. One OB van will be the main control for all incoming cameras, VTR, slow-motion control and audio. The second unit will be a camera control unit. The third OB van is located at Frognerseteren, approx. 1.5 km from the arena, and will be a camera control unit for 11 cameras.
All camera and audio signals from Frognerseteren are distributed by fiber optics to the main OB van.
Five 6-channel EVS hard disk recorders will store pictures from selected cameras.
Rail cameras, wire camera, super slow motion cameras, Polecam, Skycranes and wireless cameras will be deployed in the production.
Holmenkollen Ski Jumping Arena
The international signal from the Ski Jumping arena Holmenkollen will be produced with up to 29 cameras. The signal will be provided by one OB van.
Six 6-channel EVS hard disk recorders will store pictures from selected cameras.
Rail/wire camera, super slow motion cameras, Polecam, cranes and wireless cameras will be used as part of the production.
Midtstubakken Ski Jumping Arena
The international signal from the Midtstubakken will be produced with up to 27 cameras. The signal will be provided by one OB van.
Six 6-channel EVS hard disk recorders will store pictures from selected cameras.
Rail/wire camera, super slow motion cameras, Polecam, cranes and wireless cameras will be used as part of the production.
Medal Awards Ceremonies Arena
The international signal from the victory ceremonies arena at the University square downtown will be produced with 7 cameras. The signal will be provided by one OB van.
There will be Mixed Zone positions for unilateral broadcasters, but no commentary positions.
The signal from the University square will be transmitted to IBC in Holmenkollen via two separate fibre optic cables.
RTV compounds
There are five broadcast compounds:
1. Cross-Country, Holmenkollen Nordic arena
2. Ski-jumping, Holmenkollen
3. Ski-jumping, Midtstubakken
4. Medal awards ceremonies, University Plaza
5. RTV, MPC/IBC
1. TV compound Holmenkollen Nordic arena
Located in the tunnel under the arena. Will give space to NRK HB OB vans and auxiliary vans.
2. TV compound Holmenkollen Hill HS 134
Located to the left side of the jumper’s lift. Will give space to HB OB vans, auxiliary vans and lounge cabins for the workforce.
3. TV compound Midtstubakken Hill HS 106
Located at the bottom left of the hill. Will give space to HB OB vans, auxiliary vans and lounge cabins for the workforce.
4. TV compound Medal Awards
Located behind the University building downtown, with space limited to HB production.
5. RTV at MPC/IBC
Located at the bottom part of the Main Media Centre. Will provide space for RHBs production vans.
Power
Both technical power and domestic power for RHBs will be available at RHBs positions as described in the Rate Card.
The power will be supplied by Hafslund through their distribution system. There are two separate supply lines for the power to Holmenkollen. The technical power will be backed-up by diesel generators after a short interruption.
